Suwanee History
Suwanee is a suburban city ljust a few miles north of Atlanta.
|
Suwanee was originally inhabited by the Shawnee Indians and later the Creeks and Cherokees who eventually lost the land to white encroachment. No one can say for sure where the name Suwanee came from. It probably was an Indian word, but it might also have been a mispronunciation of Shawnee. Either way the city is known as Suwanee today. |
